General Summary:

Qualcomm's IT organization is looking for an experienced professional with strong functional expertise, business acumen, and people skills to lead our Engineering Software Solutions Development, Data Services, and Software Stack Platforms Engg function enabling Qualcomm’s core Engineering team.

He/She will lead/bring to table, the focus on cutting-edge technologies, AI/ML, architecture, and solutions development across multiple functional areas within the Engineering IT function – the HPC grid software, analytics applications, platforms development, Source code management systems enhancements, etc.  

He/She will partner with Global Engineering IT Leadership Team and the Engineering leadership, to drive the IT strategy in alignment with the Global product & IT roadmaps.

This position will report to the Vice President – IT GCC, with a matrix link to Vice President of Global Engineering IT. The role is based out of our Bangalore, India office.

Responsibilities:

The role will lead and manage IT teams focused on:

  • Development of Software solutions enabling High-Performance Compute grid
  • Development of large-scale, distributed, analytical applications.
  • Components and services for Compute Grid infrastructure optimization
  • SCM (Source Code Management) and Application life cycle management
  • CI/CD Systems for VLSI Design
  • Multi-stage data integrations with EDA tools and CAD flows
  • Development of Hardware IP Management Systems
  • Cloud-based, petabyte-scale Data Platforms (preferably GCP)
  • Development of Machine Learning solutions and pipelines

The key expectations from this role are:

  • Manage the reporting software teams and provide technology leadership
  • Be accountable for the execution and deliverables of the team
  • Collaborate closely with the global Engineering IT leadership on strategy
  • Execute projects with tightly aligned agility across global Engineering IT teams
  • Nurture future-ready technical talent within the region
  • Lead and contribute to the Architecture Working Groups within Engineering IT
  • Influence technology selection, architectures, and roadmaps of Engineering IT
  • Perform strategic Technology evaluations and prototype solutions
  • Act as a Senior technology advisor to IT leadership on a broad spectrum of IT-related technologies

In addition, this role will need to nurture future ready deep technical talent within the region and influence the architectural frameworks of the Engineering IT function and the Qualcomm IT organization.

Senior technical resource/advisor to Engineers, Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents for the various business units and Qualcomm Engineering IT as well as IT support staff on many IT-related technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, and/or Computer Networks & Systems and/or Computer Science and/or VLSI & Embedded Systems
  • 18+ years of experience in Engineering Development / Architect roles with at least 3 in lead positions (such as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Software Architect)
  • 10+ years of Engineering Management experience leading software development teams with global resources and handling concurrent product/projects
  • 5+ years of experience handling large-scale data systems / analytical applications
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, able to distill complex problems down to actionable items with scalable solutions.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies in software development and high-performance, high-throughput computing.
  • Deep understanding expertise of major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), architecture, and engineering at scale
  • Solid understanding of systems and data integration and hands-on experience implementing high volume integrations
  • Hands-on architecting and developing large-scale complex architectures.
  • Proven expertise with Java and Python-based development of resilient high-performance, geographically distributed, and scalable applications
  • Expertise in software lifecycle management and CI/CD best practices for quality, agility and security
  • Multi-year experience managing multiple agile teams and parallel releases across various products/projects
  • Experience in leveraging multiple computing paradigms to solve complex computational constructs for analytics and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's / PhD in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Networks & Systems and/or Electrical Engineering and/or VLSI & Embedded Systems
  • 12+ yrs experience leading highly technical IT teams supporting semiconductor design engineering teams for Engineering environments that includes Build Infrastructure, Release systems, Distribution systems, Software Configuration Management, Continuous Integration/Delivery
  • 8+ yrs experience managing an IT organization of 70+ non-matrixed employees.
  • Solid knowledge of Development Life Cycle in semiconductor domain.
  • Verifiable track record of effective leadership which includes strong strategic thinking and successful execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications in a clear manner to a wide audience.
  • Ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience leading as well as participating in global technical teams and projects.
  • Proven record of establishing collaborative partnerships with cross-organizational and business unit leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
OR
10+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., VP level and above).
