What you need to know about the role
We’re looking for a Content Lead who wants to transform Developer Documents Experiences at PayPal Inc. In this role, you will manage a dynamic and strong team of technical writers in India to enable the Docs-as-a-Product transformation strategy to deliver best in class docs experiences for our external developers integrating with PayPal and its subsidiary’s payment systems.

In this role, you will manage a dynamic and strong team of technical writers in India to enable the Docs-as-a-Product transformation strategy to deliver best in class docs experiences for our external developers integrating with PayPal and its subsidiary’s payment systems.

The Developer Experiences team is part of the Merchant team within the Core Product & Engineering organization. The Developer Experiences team is committed to delivering the best experience for our global developers. Our team designs end- to-end developer experiences, testing and tooling capabilities critical for our customers (developers) to build and go-live with PayPal’s payment integrations.

Your day to day

  • Collaborate with Product Manager, Subject Matter Experts, Engineers, Analytics, User Designer to produce technical content that enable external developers to integrate and use PayPal’s products (API, SDK, Payment systems)
  • Lead, Manage and Mentor a team of technical writers
  • You will be a lead advocate and adopter in using tools like Content Management systems and other technologies for creating and managing high quality and technically complex documents.
  • You will be OKR/metrics driven and will have a data driven and analytics approach towards creating and managing document experiences.
  • Learn complex technical products quickly by working alongside subject matter experts. 
  • Perform all phases of technical content development, including topic research, writing, editing, and pushing to production via a CMS  
  • Review and Audit content: Meticulously proofread and refine technical documents prior to their publication, ensuring accuracy and quality. 
  • Collaborate on editorials: Present your work to stakeholders for their insights and approval, ensuring content meets developer needs, technical accuracy, and editorial standards. 

What do you need to bring

  • 7-8 years’ proven experience in the technical writing space preferably in Fintech, Enterprise or SMB Software, Cloud/SaaS Technologies, Retail/Supply Chain industries. You bring the best of industry innovation, best practices, processes and tools to the Developer Experiences team
  • Strong preference to someone with experience with the developer persona
  • Be able to show a portfolio of technical content created in previous jobs.
  • We would like you to have 3-4 years of people management experience - Strong People Management Skills to motivate and uplevel a dynamic and strong team of technical writers
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Excellence in Stakeholder Management – Very Strong cross-functional skills with ability to set, manage and respond to diverse and multiple customer/stakeholder expectations. Build strong relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders to make a large cross-company impact
  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to think deeply about document experiences for developer and balance with available resources and risks to synthesize a strong but workable vison for document-as-a-product.
  • Ability for strong execution – Experience and skill in operationalizing strategies and requirements. Make and execute pragmatic plans/roadmaps to collaboratively deliver high quality and timely developer document experiences
  • Analytical Depth – Taken a Data and Analytics driven approach to creating Documents-as-Products. Ability to dive deep into customer pain points and feedback.
  • Excellent Communication Skills
