POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

This position is Responsible for Planning, Organising, Co-ordinating, Timely Communicating and Executing a comprehensive Project management regimen that meets customer expectations. The individual provides Project management for all kind of projects: New Product Development, Inter-Co Product Transfers, Cap Ex., ETO Project Execution, by focusing on:

(1) Structured development of Project Tracker with Toll Gates keeping in mind the key elements & considering the dependent and interdependent actions in-order to meet the Toll gate and final deadlines.

(2) Vigilant cost containment, avoidance, and reduction throughout a product’s life cycle, and

(3) Communication Cadence to team and to Leadership Team

Principal Activities

  • Serves as Project owner, accountable for the execution and success of the Project.
  • Develops and validates Project scope and customer deliverables and ensures that customer expectations for quality, timing, and product performance are met.
  • Develops a Project Tracker to visualises and monitor the progress of project; also develops a periodic review mechanism.
  • Identifies and manages assigned resources (purchased material, engineering development, capital investment, and launch costs, contract provisions) to minimise total Project costs and maximise expected return.
  • Meets Project deliverables (financial targets of appropriation request, cost, timing, completeness) as defined by the Steering committee.
  • Leads efforts to ensure that Organisation's expectations of ROI and EV are met.
  • Assists the Gate committee in developing a Project strategy and converts the strategy into action.
  • Alerts the Gate committee for Project risks that are beyond the scope of the Project team in an appropriate time frame; continuously identifies risk factors and seeks to mitigate adverse impact.
  • Works with functional engineers to assign members of cross-functional product launch teams. .
  • Leads and manages team environment through all Project phases / gate points with emphasis on synergy, development and empowerment to ensure collaboration, team unity and team success.
  • Conducts frequent Team meetings. Leads team meetings, monthly functional meetings, joint (plant/customer) meetings and Gate review meetings.
  • Maintain Project charter, timing plan, gate review matrices and open issue log.
  • Helps the team reach consensus when necessary and makes decisions as required. Knows when to make decision independently and when to ask for guidance and input.
  • Evaluates and reviews team member performance and provides input to TMS.
  • Addresses and resolves Project "roadblocks” through the appropriate functional engineers, or functional directors, or vice presidents.
  • Keeps Project team in place for 2 to 3 months after launch to ensure objectives of delivery, quality and cost are met. Objectively evaluates performance with input from the steering committee to determine at the 3 month after launch window if extension is required.
  • Serves as contact person to the customer and participates in, or leads in some cases, customer meetings; key contact for the customer Project.
  • Develops relationship with customer that makes the product launch an experience that contributes to awarding new business in the future.
  • Ensures internal and external documentation requirements are met.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Project Management Software
  • Strong desire to drive the project.
  • Ability to influence and motivate others and build effective teams.
  • Strong project management skills in scope, activity and budget planning.
  • High level of technical competence, problem solving, organisation and communication skills
  • Understanding of basic financial concepts related to Project and business metrics
  • Solid understanding of engineering and manufacturing aspects of valve/pumps manufacturing

Education & Experience

  • Education: Min. B.E - Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience: 8-10 + years applicable experience in the Project Management in a Manufacturing Industry.
  • PMP Certification preferable.
