CONTROLLERS

Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. Our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets. 

OUR Impact:

Controllers Engineering is responsible for designing and implementing solutions to manage firm’s P&L, measure and monitor the firm’s capital, balance

sheet and liquidity metrics, and regulatory obligations. Our global agile teams (based across Americas, EMEA & Asia) develop and manage the platforms,

calculation engines, and analytical tools that controllers, risk management, and deal-making teams use to project, monitor and report externally to

regulatory for both regular business activity and under stress scenarios.

Controllers Data Office (CDO) is a group within Controllers whose primary responsibility is to partner with users and the technology organization to expand

and improve the strategic data architecture that supports Controllers workflows

 

YOUR Impact:

CDO is uniquely positioned within Controllers to work on projects that span multiple Controllers Groups. CDO helps to ensure that business data needs

are met with technology solutions. Additional CDO responsibilities include implementing the Firm’s data governance policies. Ensuring that the data used

for reporting requirements is well understood and of the highest quality available.

We are a global team. We work with divisional stakeholders, to provide transparency into where data enters the firm, how it is transformed/reported

/classified, and what data quality controls exist for critical datasets. Our internal clients use this information to gain insights – aiming to eliminate

duplication, improve data quality, respond faster to new business opportunities, and to meet regulatory requirements. Our users need to search and

visualize the firm’s data flows.

Work with data consumers and producers to negotiate ownership of data

Create lineage graphs to show how data moves from top of the flow (e.g. trading, sales and deal systems) to lower down the flow (e.g. client

reporting, regulatory reporting, books and records)

Develop communication and reference materials that enable data consumers and producers to implement the data governance policy and

standard

Define and create appropriate data validation controls

Provide data quality analytics that enable data consumers and producers to drive remediation efforts

Partner with users and provide feedback on the strategic tooling to engineering teams for business use cases

Build consensus across senior stakeholders

Partner closely with divisions to define and evolve firmwide data governance strategy

Communicate progress to senior stakeholders and within the team

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with stakeholders on projects to develop strategies and solutions, ideally related to data. Ability to work in a collaborative manner with

stakeholders and drive consensus is essential. Experience working with a business team to develop functional requirements and translating those into

technical requirements is important. Having developed an effective training and testing strategy is helpful.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Play a central role in defining the strategic direction for Controllers in data initiatives

Document Data Lineage from source to reporting

Liaise with and represent Controllers in order to initiate and modify systems to meet user requirements

Interface and coordinate with project team(s) to define objectives, develop approach, create detailed schedules, provide status updates and

prepare deliverables for projects

Perform in-depth analysis of Controllers business processes and system issues to define, propose and implement strategic technological and

procedural workflow improvements

Partner with technology to ensure user tools meet for analyzing data meet user’s needs

Stakeholder management /sponsors and users of all levels

Provide technical and functional guidance and leadership to junior members on a need basis

 

BASIC QUALIFICATION

Bachelor’s degree

5+ years’ relevant experience

Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills

Highly organized

Relationship management: effectively partner with divisions across the firm with a focus on end-client value

Knowledge of data warehousing and the development of physical and logical models

Extremely proactive and works well in a collaborative environment

Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking

Ability to effectively communicate and present results highlighting the broader strategic impact

Background of Accountancy/Finance/Data Analytics is desirable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ideally has a good understanding of data usage in one or more business areas

Proficiency in SQL, MS Excel, Data visualization tools , Data Models

Experience of data governance or data management

Knowledge of BCBS 239

Prior experience in financial services industry in Regulatory Reporting
