GSAM Fixed Income Pension Solutions Team

We are looking for a candidate to join the Fixed Income Pensions Solutions  portfolio management team, a fast-growing business within GSAM Fixed Income. GSAM Fixed Income Pension Solutions team is recognized an industry leader in providing innovative solutions to pension clients. The team manages over $90 in fixed income Cashflow Driven Investing (CDI), Buy and Maintain Credit, Liability Driven Investing (LDI) and other customized multi sector fixed income strategies for pension and other institutional clients globally. The ideal candidate is passionate about portfolio management, quantitative investment analysis, building and managing customized client portfolio solutions and supporting a high degree of client service. We welcome individuals who enjoy a fast paced work environment and can leverage technical skills to manage portfolios, analyze investments, and want contribute to our investment process and client experience.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The portfolio construction specialist will be an integral part of Fixed Income Solutions portfolio management team. Initial focus of the role will to provide support to Portfolio Managers by helping with portfolio monitoring, trade construction, constraint compliance and ensuring risk is appropriate to meet client objectives. The role will also support new business generation and servicing of existing clients. This individual will also collaborate closely with strategists and technology teams to improve efficiency and scale of our analytics and execution process.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Monitor portfolio market risk and positioning consistency across Fixed Income Solution accounts.
  • Work with portfolio managers to manage liquidity and allocate balance sheet 
  • Construct trades for long duration, LDI and Buy & Maintain and Cash Flow Matching portfolios based on investment guidelines
  • Collaborate with the Multi-asset solutions team to develop liability benchmarks and manage flows
  • Help develop investment strategies for each customized liability benchmark
  • Build customized model portfolios for prospective clients
  • Analyze and attribute portfolio performance on a regular basis
  • Work with Technologists and Strategists to enhance and scale our analytics and technology
  • Provide topical market-based or customized client-facing analysis as needed 
  • Support client service with ad hoc portfolio and market commentaries, analyses and reporting.

Qualifications and Preferred Skillset:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. CFA study preferred
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fixed Income and Credit markets
  • Experience with or understanding of portfolio construction, trading or risk management techniques is preferred
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as thrive within a fast-paced team environment
  • Curious individual with strong critical thinking skills who enjoys problem-solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
