Role overview 

The GSAM Fundamental Equity Product Management Team is focused on the strategic development, growth and positioning of our various equity investment offerings. The Product Management function is integrated with the Portfolio Management (PM) team. It is focused on enabling sales channels to win and retain clients through regular communications on market updates, investment performance/positioning, as well as supporting them through other marketing initiatives. The team also works closely with other areas of the firm, including request for proposal (RFP), risk and performance analytics, legal and compliance. 

Principal Responsibilities 

Develop Product Knowledge – Gain an understanding of GSAM’s equity investment products, philosophy, process, and serve as a product specialist. 

Portfolio Analysis – Monitoring client portfolios and associated performance attribution/positioning; Writing market/fund commentaries, explaining the embedded investment strategies and helping with study of market trends, investment themes and related impact on client portfolios. 

Business Development – Participate in creation and maintenance of various marketing materials like pitch books; assist senior client portfolio managers with ad-hoc sales & client inquiries, engage with clients (as you progress in the role); responding to and reviewing client RFPs, in liaison with the RFP specialist. 

Market Research and Competitor Analyses – Conduct peer group analyses for Portfolio Managers to assist in competitive positioning, and create macro-economic thought pieces to assist in GSAM’s broader sales efforts.

Client Reporting – Take responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of client portfolio reviews and reports; communicate investment strategy and portfolio positioning on a regular basis to internal and external clients 

Experience/Skill 

  • Master’s degree of Finance, Economics, Business or Commerce 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong interest in the financial markets and good investment sense/commercial instinct 
  • Detail oriented, motivated, and hard working 
  • Enthusiasm for portfolio management and markets 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure 
  • Team player 
  • Experience in financial services industry, preferably in an analytical function 
  • CFA is a plus 
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office products, tools and utilities for business use
