TWS Administrator / Scheduler Requirement
 
Job Summary:
This role will establish and enforce standards, process, and rigor around the Administration of IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS). The successful applicant will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting a TWS environment that will support a heterogeneous Platform configuration. Must be able to illustrate subject matter expertise in the workload automation space with a complete knowledge of the enterprise scheduler environment.  Execute best practices to ensure high availability for the application environments.  Responsible for delivering business automation improvements and maximizing the utilization of Enterprise Scheduling  This individual will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent TWS Best Practices that meets application performance and uptime requirements.
 
Responsibilities:
  • The individual will work within the change management and incident management framework to update the TWS scheduling environment as needed.
  • Manage batch workload in Production Control for TWS. Identify and fix common issues, alert support staff when problems develop, escalate issues to management when SLA's may be breached, and document all issues in writing.
  • Efficient use of system tools (i.e. IBM's TDWC, Command line or similar job scheduling tools).
  • Work with application developmental teams to help them understand the tools needs, its behavior and develop their applications to best work within the scheduler tool; also to work with applications and infrastructure support teams to find root cause for job failures and resolve issues quickly
  • Set up jobs in Developmental/Model/Production environments and test / troubleshoot with application developmental teams
  • Troubleshoot and communicate OS, Application and User level issues
  • Analyzes event messages to determine point of equipment or program failure
  • Prioritizes and runs batch jobs based on available resources and scheduling requirements. Scheduling various types of jobs using TWS job forms.
  • Assists in set up of file transfers jobs & other TWS plugin/Extended Agent knowledge.
  • Experience in Manipulating jobs and workflows, Submitting jobs into the Current plan environment, start of Day, Scheduling jobs with periodic calendars, Configuring periodic statistic collection using periodic calendars & Time zones with Runcycle & Runcycle groups, Defining jobs based on the conditions resources, parameters, variables, prompts with statement & action steps.
  • Experience in General, history & Audit reports
  • Defining, managing, and tracking SLA & business services, Leveraging forecast for business needs, Preparing and using What-If Scenarios
  • Experience in setup, administration and customization options of IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler Master Domain Manager, Domain Manager, WebSphere application server, Tivoli Dynamic workload Console, Fault-tolerant agent, Extended agents for various applications, Forecasting & Advanced workload Analytics Responsible to design architect and suggest new improvements in monitoring setup
  • Set up user security for scheduler tool and configure precisely new users
  • Participate and configure DR exercises and recovery options (restore) and install / configure Fault tolerant High availability systems for Model and Production environments
  • Create monthly special usage reports and participate in SOX training for internal / external audits
  • Writes directions for UNIX team and Windows Team to install new agents for said servers
  • Test and deploy new versions of scheduler tool to Model, Developmental and Production environments using the approved change process
  • Deploy and test new tool patches in Developmental environment
  • Participate and translate in architecture design meetings to create expanded disaster recovery / business continuity environment that supports the newly installed FT/HA (Fault Tolerant – High Availability)
  • Maintain all licenses and peculiar configurations for each license
  • Be able to accurately describe the problem to the scheduling tool's and to be able to start a Trouble ticket and interface with the vendor staff to discuss and explore the problem with the tool
  • Starting and stopping components and services
  • Extensive knowledge on TWS command line utilities (Conman, Composer, Optman, Planman, etc.)
  • Manage environment security and authorizations with SSL
  • Analyze and resolve TWS system production problems and execute TWS utilities as required
  • Perform trend analysis on system performance, recommend configuration changes and participate in the planning activities to schedule system
 
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of TWS experience with Hands on TWS version 8.x & 9.x Administration. 
  • Extensive knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows Environments & and SQL queries
  • Knowledge on scripting (Shell, Perl, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge on ITIL process
