Education & Experience

• Preferably 1-3 years of experience as an Environmental Compliance Engineer with ample knowledge in global environmental compliance legislation such as REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Prop65 & conflict minerals, etc., and other applicable, regional, and local regulations.

POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
As an Environmental Compliance Engineer you will be part of the Global Engineering Shared Services team supporting Material Compliance related operations. In this role, you will closely work with various Business Units - Product Engineering Group and Supply Chain Leaders on the product reviews and how to manage the business wide Environmental Material Compliance activities and work on the end-to-end process. Also, responsible for creating procedures, guidelines, and reports to ensure governmental and industrial regulations related to environmental laws are met by our products in the country of production and all destination countries.
Principal Activities
• Evaluate materials and processes to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
• Prepare SVHC Analysis reports, perform compliance reviews, including safety, regulatory, environmental compliance and risk assessment of potential sources of supply.
• Review material data in comply with technical requirements and work with design engineers to provide Certificates of Compliance or other acceptable compliance data to the customers.
• Work with our Product Engineering team and appropriate external organizations to maintain expertise in environmental compliance requirements & provide consultation to sales team
• Assess the possible impact of any environmental compliance changes on our business.
• Respond to supplier and customer requests for compliance-related customer requests on REACH, RoHS, and other legislations.
• Ensure organizational compliance to material and product declarations.
• Assist with part qualification to ensure coverage of relevant parts in accordance with compliance and business requirements.
• Validate the quality and accuracy of material and substance composition data provided by suppliers and external organizations and decision making of Accepting or Rejecting supplier’s data with respect to standards.
• Create Material Data Sheets for New Part Numbers / according to customer standards
• Simplify the material compliance workflows and initiate better retention of the regulatory and compliance knowledge developed during the product lifecycle.
• Strong communication with the suppliers to collect the materials data and develop suppliers to leverage skills to manage REACH / RoHS compliance declarations & reporting as per specified environmental standards.
• Maintains CIRCOR’s REACH database up to date on a regular basis based on ECHA updates
• Technology watch to identify potential material alternatives of non-REACH materials
• Assign RoHS Compliance Status and Provide Alternate RoHS Compliant Part Numbers.
• Coordinate with different teams to ensure update of drawings, material specifications, process documents and other Engineering documents (ECN/ECO).
• Evaluate new materials (non-metallic, composites, elastomers) for Aerospace applications.
• Work closely with Material Suppliers & Laboratories in evaluating materials and processes.
• Communicate the status of material compliance efforts to Engineering Manager.
