Software Engineer Senior

Job Description:

• The Network Tools portfolio offers custom-developed tools that help network teams with automation, dashboards and self-service capabilities.
• You will be a member of the Network Tools team and will collaborate with Network teams to gather requirements, document, develop, and deliver the Tools.
• Responsibilities As a Network Services Software Developer, you will be part of the team developing the self-service and automation tools that will improve the productivity and quality of various infrastructure tasks.
• Lead the software development projects / enhancements. Interface with internal customers to gather requirements and transform them to the tools.
• Work with Network Service teams to Develop tools to automate the configuration deployment, administration and improve monitoring/observability capabilities for computer network.
• Move architectural concepts through the software design and validation stage into Production.
• Support Network Engineers and service owners with documenting requirements, architecture, engineering decisions.
• Develop and support Network Tools and lead the migration of legacy Perl apps to Golang.
• Lead and support Engineers with development of APIs to automate infrastructure.
• Lead the development of tools to integrate, manage and maintain infrastructure / hosting services.
• Manage and support Vendor partners as required (technology/hardware/software onboarding, testing, integration, etc.)
• Be willing to be on call for Application support when needed.
• Problem-solver with a passion for technology; skilled in grasping the big picture, conceptualizing, developing, and implementing solutions, and partnering closely with business leaders and IT business interfaces with a view of automation and observability.

 

Skills Required:

MUST HAVE - SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years of overall software development experience.
• At least 4 years of Go language (aka GoLang).
• Must have 2 to 3 years of development experience in Unix/Linux environment.
• Development experience in GCP or other Cloud platforms will be an added advantage.
• 3+ years of JavaScript experience: JavaScript libraries (jQuery, Bootstrap, Vue.js, etc.) and SQL.
• Experience in development and management of Application Programming Interface (API).
• Proven expertise in DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and/or CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Rally, GitHub, Jenkins, Jira etc.
• Excellent Troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Able to support legacy Perl applications which are currently under migration to Golang.
• Functional understanding of infrastructure architecture (network, storage, hosting, cloud)
• Experience with Agile Project methodologies and tools (e.g., Rally, Jira etc.).
• Good communication skills, fluent in English, written and verbal.
• Strong multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Open to learn new technologies.
• CCNA certification or equivalent experience gained as a Network Engineer will be an added advantage.

 

Skills Preferred:

• Knowledge of CSS, Linux/Unix bash scripting.
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, Cisco network equipment, Cloud technologies.
• Infrastructure Automation experience or understanding of tools. Eg. Ansible, Terraform etc.
• General understanding of infrastructure architecture (network, storage, and hosting).
• Self-starter with high degree of motivation and ability to learn new subjects quickly.

 

Experience Preferred:
