Trident Consulting is looking for a Unix Administrator for one of our clients

Role: Unix Administrator
Location: Chennai / Bangalore/ Hyderabad (Onsite)
Type: Fulltime

Position Summary:
The Unix Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Unix servers and systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems, scripting, and automation tools, along with a strong commitment to high-quality service delivery. You will work closely with other IT staff to solve complex issues, implement new systems, and ensure the stability and security of our Unix infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Unix operating systems and servers in support of business processing requirements.
Perform system maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, file maintenance, and performance tuning.
Ensure Unix systems and applications are secure and up-to-date with all patches and updates.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.
Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
Automate tasks and processes where possible to improve efficiency and reliability of Unix systems.
Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and response.
Provide technical support and training to end-users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
Stay current with new technologies and advancements in the Unix/Linux domain, suggesting improvements and upgrades when necessary.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a Unix/Linux Administrator, with a strong background in deploying, configuring, and maintaining Unix/Linux environments.
Solid understanding of networking technologies, protocols, and tools.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python) for automation.
Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies and containerization.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
