Job Description:

This position will oversee and manage all Shipping/ Logistics activities and related systems/tools in a manufacturing environment. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to logistics, distribution, warehousing, material handling, import-export of products, shipment of products from point of origin to point of delivery, third-party warehousing, working closely with the import-export-trade compliance and corporate transportation teams. Develops and implements global logistics plans, budgets, and procedures to maximize compliance with customer needs within budget constraints. Interacts with vendors and peers in Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, and Product Development to optimize systems and procedures. Selects, mentors, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the Shipping and Logistics function.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs inbound and outbound logistics operations such as; transportation, inventory control, warehouse activities, safety performance and logistics quality management.
  • Assesses and recommends optimal shipping methods, carriers, routing, equipment and frequency to meet required transportation parameters, delivery specifications and costs. Recommend carrier base and negotiates competitive rates for logistics needs.
  • Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits.
  • Maintain metrics, customer service logs, processes, safety training and records.
  • Monitor import and export processes to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct WW distribution center operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, and OTD (On time delivery).
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as Sales, Order Management, Accounting and Planning.
  • Conduct and review audits for logistics activities, such as storage, distribution and transportation.
  • Develop and implement methods to maintain accurate inventory levels at the facility. Manage cycle counts effectively for timely and accurate completion.
  • Manages Requests for Pricing Proposals (RFPs) and international transportation service agreements/contracts
  • Perform total landed cost analysis and provide routine updates to the stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain international transportation SOPs with freight forwarders and other logistics service providers
  • Drive continuous improvement and Good Distribution Practices for risk mitigation and contingency plans to secure critical shipping lanes
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement international supply chain improvement tools, including but not limited to cost savings, tracking for enhanced visibility, market analysis review/communication processes, etc.
  • Monitor international logistics provider performance through the development of KPIs and quarterly business reviews
  • Coordinate claims process for international shipments with freight forwarders and Risk Management
  • Responsible for global logistics operations integration projects including but not limited to shipping validation, coordinating / enabling IT systems, monitoring / implementing trade compliance and regulatory requirements


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 4-7 employees in the Shipping and Receiving. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Job Qualification:

Education Background

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work History:

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in shipping warehouse environment
  • Proven track record of building credible, reliable and customer focused logistics teams


Technical Background

Required Skillset:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage and generate/ interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX, Microsoft SharePoint Database software and Everest Payroll systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is a must.
  • Ability to develop and monitor statistics to track productivity, overtime and other applicable KPIs.

Desired Skillset:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • APICS CPIM certification is desired
  • Compliance/Traffic Certification Training is a plus

  • Experience in analyzing customer needs and proposing solutions to achieve Customer satisfaction and meet Company objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be resilient.
