POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The purpose of the Design Engineer position is to design & draft from engineering specifications using SolidWorks. Develop, prepare, and check; models, assemblies, drawings, ECOs, bill of materials, renderings, and animations. Utilize existing PDM systems for document control and distribute to the necessary persons. Responsible for resolving associated mechanical and fabrication problems.

Principal Activities

  • Work closely and collaborate with engineers and engineering management.
  • Design valve components according to International Standards (ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B16.34, MSS Specifications, API Standards, Etc.) and detailing per DeltaValve norms/templates.
  • Prepares accurate, clean, correct and complete drawings (forging, casting, fabrications, weldments, exploded assemblies, etc.) & bill of materials to clearly define products that will be provided to production, company suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to contact and communicate requirements to supplier and gather information for accurate product evaluation and selection.
  • Work with PDM systems (ARAS) administrators making sure all documents are entered into the vault correctly and are maintained for DeltaValve’s use.
  • Prepares renderings and animations using SolidWorks and other related tools to support sales and marketing in their presentations to customer.
  • Assist and support sales and proposal with required documentation.
  • Crosschecks drawings & bill of materials for others to minimize revision changes.
  • Communicate with shop and suppliers to determine the best methods for designing (design for manufacturing) DeltaValve products.
  • Assists in dispositioning and resolving customer, shop, purchasing and supplier issues.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • The Designer must be mechanically inclined and detail oriented and able to interpret technical documents, regulations and specifications.
  • Ability to visualize objects in 3D and the development of problem-solving design techniques.
  • Individual must possess good oral and written communication skills (English) and must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of SolidWorks including communication through the internet, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • The Designer must be knowledgeable in all aspects of ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards and possess knowledge and solid experience in mechanical drafting using a 3D CAD program (Solidworks). Certification in Solidworks (CSWP or CSWE or Equivalent) is added advantage.
  • Individual must be knowledgeable of engineering and manufacturing processes involved in production.
  • Represents DeltaValve as a Design Professional in dealings with fellow employees and outside contacts.
  • Takes initiative to overcome obstacles and complete tasks.
  • Demonstrates continual improvement in knowledge of all aspects of valve/tooling design.
  • Contributes to improved customer satisfaction by promptly and appropriately addressing customer valve design concerns/issues.
  • Serves as a technical resource to other employees and customers.
  • Strives to improve education, skills and knowledge to improve/maintain DeltaValve’s position as an industry leader.
  • Exposure to customer specification in Oil and Gas Refinery is added advantage.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 3 years experience in Design/Engineering function within manufacturing industry environment, preferably in Industrial valve industry. Very good Solidworks experience required.
