ServiceNow ITOM / CMDB developer
Role : ServiceNow ITOM / CMDB developer
Location: Remote.
5-6 of experience in ITOM CMDB
- As a ServiceNow ITOM CMDB (Configuration Management Database) Developer, your primary responsibility revolves around configuring, customizing, and maintaining the CMDB within the ServiceNow platform. Here's a breakdown of key responsibilities and tasks associated with this role:
- Configuration Management: Implementing and maintaining the Configuration Management process within ServiceNow ITOM, ensuring that all configuration items (CIs) are properly identified, documented, and managed.
- CMDB Configuration: Designing and configuring the CMDB schema, classes, and relationships to accurately represent the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and services.
- Data Normalization and Enrichment: Developing normalization and reconciliation rules to ensure data accuracy and consistency within the CMDB. Enriching CI records with additional attributes and relationships to provide comprehensive insights into IT assets and dependencies.
- Integration with Discovery Tools: Integrating ServiceNow CMDB with ITOM Discovery tools (such as ServiceNow Discovery or third-party discovery tools) to automatically populate and update CI information, ensuring CMDB accuracy and completeness.
- Change Management Integration: Collaborating with Change Management teams to ensure that CMDB updates are properly documented and validated through the Change Management process, maintaining data integrity and compliance.
- CI Relationship Mapping: Defining and maintaining relationships between CIs within the CMDB, including dependencies, associations, and impact analysis to support Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
- Reporting and Visualization: Developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide insights into CMDB health, compliance, and configuration trends. Utilizing ServiceNow reporting and analytics capabilities to monitor CMDB performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Governance and Compliance: Enforcing CMDB governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry regulations and best practices (e.g., ITIL, ISO 20000).
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for CMDB optimization and enhancement, such as automation of CI discovery and reconciliation processes, streamlining data normalization, and improving data visualization for better decision-making.
- Documentation and Training: Documenting CMDB configurations, processes, and best practices for reference by administrators and users. Providing training and support to IT teams on CMDB usage, data entry, and maintenance procedures.
