What are keywords?
Keywords are specific words or phrases that are used to search for job. A search looks for these words in job postings and if it finds them, pulls it up for a user to take a look at; just the same way you do research on the Internet. The more keywords that are used, the more closely the job will match to what you're really looking for. For example, if you type the word 'sales' into a search, you'll get literally thousands of results back at you. But if you type the words 'sales and marketing management', you're going to get much fewer and much more useful results. To search for an exact phrase, keywords must have quotation marks around the phrase. Example: To search for postings containing an exact phrase "customer service representative", you can type the exact phrase, within quotation marks, as your search criteria. In order to eliminate certain words from your search, you can use the "-"symbol with no space before the word that you would like to exclude. Example: If you do not want the word "marketing" to show up in your search results, you can use the following keywords: -marketing. This will eliminate any job postings that contain the word "marketing" from responding to your search. We also provide an 'advanced search' option located to the left of the 'Search' button that you can use to narrow your search even further.

My job search results didn't match my keywords. Why?
There are several reasons why this may be the case: You didn't enclose your keyword(s) in double quotes, and the search mechanism located words related to your keyword(s) but not the exact keyword itself. The employer who posted the job chose to display a shortened version of the job's description, and the missing keyword can only be found in the portion of the job description not displayed. The job description contains your keyword(s), but not in the context you were expecting. For example, you may enter the keyword phrase "graphic artist" and receive a job posting for a Marketing professional that contains the phrase "You will work with our graphic artists" If this is the case, make sure you have selected a job description as part of your search criteria.

Do I need to use proper punctuation?
No. In fact, skip using such common words as a , an, as, etc. and punctuation marks--period (.), semi-colon (;), colon (:). The search engine ignores them. So if you typed, "Word for Windows," you could get back that plus "Word" and "Windows".
