THE TEAM

The Digital Transformation Office partners with Engineering and cross-divisional leadership across the firm to drive our Firmwide Digital Strategy. Digital Strategy is one of the key pillars of the firm's One Goldman Sachs (OneGS) strategy, which aims to deliver the entire firm to meet the holistic needs of clients looking for a greater array of products and services from all parts of the firm. It will deliver differentiated and innovative technology and data solutions through robust and consistent digital experiences on desktop, mobile and application programming interfaces (APIs). The team is responsible for designing and implementing governance mechanisms, technology solutions, and best practices that will support the firm's OneGS digital strategy to further enhance clients' experience and the firm’s operational efficiency.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will lead projects and programs covering tooling and new offerings to ensure that our services scale to meet diverse client requirements. You will work backwards from the client to solve technical challenges. You will be responsible for handling all aspects of technical programs and tasked with employing every phase in the program’s life cycles to deliver them in a successful and timely manner.

Your key responsibilities would include:

  • This role offers a high-profile opportunity to lead projects which involve partnership with multiple businesses and entities within the firm. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with various senior stakeholders across the firm to deliver objectives, key results, and milestones.
  • This role requires an experienced professional with well-developed project management, risk management, and data analysis skills. Strong communication skills are also needed, as the role will involve working closely with team members in other groups and regions.
  • End-to-end ownership of cross-functional programs, including roadmap planning, resource planning and project execution
  • Responsible for making project decisions, achieving tactical goals while retaining a strategic focus
  • Develop and manage detailed program plans and identify, monitor and track key deliverables and progress.
  • Ability to proactively identify upcoming risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve issues that sometimes cross departmental boundaries.
  • Partnering with technology teams and other groups in the firm to ensure project risks (e.g., execution, technology, license) are identified and addressed.
  • Develop executive presentations including supporting documentation for all levels throughout the organization.
  • Developing and maintaining status reports, dashboards or presentations for senior management to ensure transparency on the delivery of commitments and any risks.
  • Solicit stakeholder input and coordinate amongst multiple groups to inform requirements
  • Ability to drive consensus and influence at all levels and across functions within an organization
  • Self-directed team player with the ability to drive high performance and work independently and in a team-oriented and fast paced environment
  • Results-oriented with ability to manage multiple complex, time-sensitive projects with multiple senior stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Manage communication, which includes dissemination of related project documentation and distributing status reports, meeting notes.
  • Leading regular project status meetings ensuring all risks and issues are escalated and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Providing structure to projects by working with teams to develop project plans.
  • Being flexible to contribute to other activities within the group where necessary (e.g. project management training, developing communications).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years’ work experience successfully driving projects in a technical program management, or similar technical leadership role.
  • Experience with hands-on technical product management, large scale technical project management, and/ or software development
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with a demonstrated understanding of program management processes, artifacts and tools
  • Excellent communication skills including experience speaking to technical and business audiences and working globally
  • Functional knowledge of business management capabilities (OKRs, program management, vendor management, financial planning and analysis)
  • Proficient in major product management applications (i.e., Jira, Confluence)
  • Excellent executive reporting skills and proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc) 
  • Proficient in low code applications like SmartSheet and Alteryx is a plus
  • Experience with Qliksense, general query and scripting (SQL, python, etc.) is a significant plus
  • Ability to manage change and balance strategic focus with tactical implementation/execution
  • Innovative and flexible in coming up with suggestions and ideas
  • Strong sense of detail and urgency, with the ability to motivate others to deliver
  • Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
  • Ability (and tenacity) to clearly express ideas and arguments in meetings and on paper (i.e., great written and verbal communications skills)
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Must work well in a global team, multi-tasking environment and under pressure
  • Adaptability and being comfortable with uncertainty
