POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

As the Project Manager, with little to no guidance, you will have ultimate responsibility for the assigned, complex projects from the release by the Sales Department until final shipment and installation at the customer’s site. You will proactively anticipate the needs of the projects, the customers, and the project flow to independently manage those needs and prepare for or avoid conflicts or risks. This includes, but is not limited to, being able to comprehensively review and thoroughly understand all project related specifications, documents, and requirements included in Capital and Aftermarket projects.

Principal Activities

  • Manage and support preliminary negotiations with Sales, quotations, and purchase orders
  • Manage and drive activities related to project budgets, order acknowledgement, customer specifications, ITP, customer drawings, BOMs, weld maps, WPSs, PQRs, and International Certifications when applicable.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Quality to develop a comprehensive and accurate manufacturing plan based on the customer’s specifications.
  • Monitor compliance to customer specifications.
  • Manage customer relationships and expectations with proactive communication and managing to commitments.
  • Coordinate with operations to develop a comprehensive and accurate production schedule which meets or improves on the customer’s requirements.
  • Monitor (expedite as necessary) and report on the production schedule.
  • Monitor costs and keep project on budget.
  • Direct the project documentation submittal, distribution and return processes ensuring on-time processing of complete and accurate job documentation.
  • Manage contract administration: change orders, billings/collections, letters of credit, bonds, invoices, transportation, etc.
  • Ensure Customer Projects are engineered, purchased, manufactured and tested in accordance with the customer’s requirements and committed ship date.
  • Organize and administrate pre-production meetings with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
  • Support administration of Warranty and Goodwill.
  • Conduct Coordination Meetings with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
  • Develop and lead the mitigation plan for individual projects to identify any risks and opportunities; facilitate and overcome obstacles.
  • Responsible for resolving project-related customer concerns and gathering and providing answersto product, quality and documentation related questions.
  • Coordinate and attend Pre-Assembly and Final Inspection meetings with the customer at subcontractors/vendors and other Company sites.
  • Report project status to the customer and leadership.
  • Manage all aspects of project execution in Company PLM and ERP systems.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings and documents
  • Excellent communication, relationship, negotiation, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Sound leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to promote strategic, solution-based discussions to drive and support change and flexibility
  • Solid understanding of the subcontract manufacturing model
  • Keen understanding and insight to lead the resolutions of customer or project related concerns, and know which person or team will be able to provide assistance in resolution, if needed
  • Understanding of proactively managing to and staying on budget
  • Proficient using ERP, CRM, and PLM software systems for a variety of tasks, and able to become proficient with current company software systems
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the Company in a professional manner, and to calmly and successfully resolve issues and deescalate problems and highly emotional situations
  • Commitment to quality and customer service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with multiple complex projects.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field and 8+ years of project management/engineering experience (refinery and/or Oil & Gas industry experience preferred), or a combination of education and experience required.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience: machining, welding, castings/forgings, etc., with a very strong technical/mechanical background highly preferred.
