IRP Engineering - Senior Technologist, Vice President, Mumbai

BACKGROUND

FICC(Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities) is part of the firm’s Institutional Client Services business. FICC business teams transact in a variety of assets, including interest rate products (such as government bonds, treasury bills and other highly liquid instruments), credit products, mortgages, currencies, and commodities. We as part of FICC Technology are a global business unit which works closely with these business teams and are responsible for the technology needs of the franchise.

IRP Technology team is part of FICC Technology group and belongs to Interest Rates Products Business line. We work closely with IRP Trading and Sales desks globally providing digital solution to business problems. The team works on initiatives for building new and innovative solutions in addition to re-engineering our existing trading systems and applications. We also have a deep pipeline of business driven project requests aimed at automating trading/sales workflows and increasing our competitive advantage with our clients.

Goldman Sachs (India) Capital Markets Private Limited (GICL) entity operates as a Standalone Primary Dealer underwriting Indian government bonds and treasury bills along with trading interest rate swaps, the function is based out of Mumbai.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

This hiring is for GICL(Goldman Sachs (India) Capital Markets Private Limited) entity in Goldman Sachs Mumbai which works closely with IRP engineering team globally. We are looking for Head of IT role for GICL Mumbai entity – the required personnel should be at sufficiently senior level, technically competent and experienced official in IT related aspects capable of leading the Head of IT Function.

As Head of IT in GICL entity in Mumbai, the personnel will be required:

• To ensure that the execution of IT projects/ initiatives is aligned with the entitiy’s IT Policy and IT Strategy
• Ensuring that there is an effective organizational structure to support IT functions in the Registered Entity
• Putting in place an effective disaster recovery setup and business continuity strategy/ plan.
• As a first line of defence, the Head of IT Function shall ensure effective assessment, evaluation and management of IT controls and IT risk, including the implementation of robust internal controls, to 
  • Secure the entity’s information assets.
  • Comply with external and internal policies, regulatory and legal requirements on IT related aspects.

In addition, the person will have responsibilities as a senior technical engineer in global IRP engineering team and would be expected to contribute on specific global deliverables while working closely with regional counterparts on various initiatives.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE SOUGHT 

Effectively meeting the demands of our challenging mandate requires a passion for learning as well as deep understanding and experience across a wide array of technical and functional competencies.  While there is not a set formula for success in this environment, we find the following tend to be indispensable:

• At least 10+ years of experience delivering high quality software and working with stakeholders
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ‘Client Touch’
• Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance
• Experience collaborating in global teams.
• Excellent experience in a strongly typed language (preferably Java)
• Expert in technical discipline or application tier, e.g. Front End, Back End, Middleware, etc.
• Competence across other key application tiers, i.e. you can write JS even if you mostly work in Java.
• Although not mandatory, but knowledge of JS / React/ Ag Grid for building feature-rich high performance UIs would be useful
