The Product Owner position in the Data Services Tribe offers candidates an unparalleled opportunity to support the success of a growing portfolio of data services that offer referential and activity-based data solutions sourced from DTCC's transaction, reference, position and asset servicing data covering all major asset classes. As the premier post-trade market infrastructure for the global financial services industry, DTCC simplifies the complexities of data management across transaction types and asset classes, increasing transparency, mitigating risk and driving efficiencies for financial firms.

The Product Owner position supports Data Services' Platform Transformation & Interfaces squad and is responsible for translating the product vision into squad deliverables to achieve the product strategy, aligned with maximizing value to the client. This is done through managing scope and product backlog in collaboration with the squad, Product Managers, clients (internal/external) and key stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Translate the product vision and the technology roadmap into squad deliverables and release plans
  • Prioritize the squad’s backlog.  Accept or reject backlog items, according to acceptance criteria, during the sprint
  • Refine backlog with the squad to provide the right level of detail at the right time to achieve definition of ready
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders and clients and incorporate into future backlog items
  • Bring the voice of the client (external/internal) into the squad
  • Cultivate relationships with the Tribe Lead, Technology Lead and key stakeholders to identify issues, risks, and dependencies, and maintain alignment to achieve product and technology strategies
  • Evaluate implementation alternatives and considers impact of changing scope on budget and estimates
  • Attend and participate in all squad and Tribe meetings (example. sprint and release events)
  • Mitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.
  • Think creatively about where business initiatives drive technology evolution and to break-down processes and reimagine enabling technology capabilities with stakeholders

Talents Needed for Success:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrates ability to apply IT knowledge to solving business problems, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, exceptional service orientation, strong negotiating skills.
  • Exhibits strong understanding of Agile Software Development (primarily Scrum and Kanban) principles and techniques
  • Understands and uses applicable work management tools (i.e. JIRA) for decision making and collaboration
  • Drives creative and solution-oriented activity with all participants and stakeholders
  • Platform product experience
