Who We Are:

The CF&O Shared Services Engineering team (CFOSS) is a centralized group within Engineering that supports divisional objectives of Compliance, Risk, Controllers and Corporate Treasury. The team provides common services cross divisionally to realize efficiencies and establish best practices across the organization. 

The team’s core priorities include:

Provide engineering, solutions and support services for Application, Compute and Data Platforms to Controllers, Corporate Treasury, Risk etc. In addition, we also develop solutions to automate or simplify management of Dev, QA and Production environments and tools to report on capacity and infrastructure management. Also responsible for the below.

  • Tech Risk Mandated Activities
  • IaC/Gitlab Governance
  • Compute and Storage provisioning with capacity planning

Who We Look For: 

This Systems Engineer role is for a professional who is passionate about bringing business impact through digital transformation and deployment of scalable and reliable solutions.

The Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for developing solutions, and providing best practice engineering, to ensure a stable and secure operating environment.  The primary responsibilities of the group are governance and implementation of best practices around provisioning with configuration of our compute, application, and data platforms.  This position is for an associate liaising with Finance and Risk Senior Stakeholders (the application development teams) in the following areas:

  • Reduce operating costs and risk by:
    • Adopting firm standards, and implementing best practices across the business unit
    • Elimination of legacy platforms: Driving TechRisk Mandates/Initiatives for EOL hardware, db services, software, etc.
  • Provisioning:
    • Using firm tools to provision and configure compute, storage, and application servers.
    • Review provisioning requirements of stakeholders, and consult on best practices around capacity, BCP, etc.
    • Automate the workflow for provisioning and incorporate best practices.
  • Manage relationship with Core Engineering Teams, notably

    Cloud Platforms (Internal Cloud, AWS, GCP)

    Middleware (DBA, Messaging)

    Runtime Practices Group

    Storage Engineering

 HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Manage compute / storage provisioning and maintain the compute farm (hardware, storage (NAS) and system software) to the latest standards.
  • Coordinate and communicate the cloud adoption, oversee the migration across the divisions.
  • Help evaluate & fine tune infrastructure for utilization, performance, reliability, and scalability. (SRE)
  • Take ownership over project timelines and deliverables.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • Proficient with Linux Infrastructure fundamentals as a systems engineer.
  • Understanding of Cloud Computing: Virtualization Technologies, Infrastructure as Code (gitlab/Terraform), Linux Configuration (LDAP, NIS, automount) and Storage Technologies (NAS, NetApp, Unity) 
  • A prompt, analytical approach when faced with intricate problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and through writing with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Comfortable managing and working as a part of the global team in a dynamic, fast-paced financial environment including managing multiple stakeholders and projects.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to apply expertise to drive complex, technical and highly commercial solutions.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new technologies and always improve your technical skillset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline
  • Experience with large scale compute platforms and cloud computing environments.
  • SRE and DevOps Principles with practical experience.
  • Understanding (hands on experience and aptitude) of Enterprise Software (Shell, Java, Python, C++, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and SQL.
  • Background in the financial and/or software industry
