POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

As the Supplier Quality/Welding Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Quality Manager in performing supplier evaluations, audits, inspections, and document review to ensure compliance to all purchase order, statutory and CFS requirements. Frequent travel to meet with suppliers and accompany customer representatives will be required. This position will be responsible for building long-term quality and process integrity with CFS suppliers and customer inspection base.

Principal Activities

You Will:

  • Provide direct oversite of assigned suppliers located in India, holding them accountable to meet all purchasing, quality, engineering and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee and assist with development of supplier fabrication processes as well as support the local CFS welding program to ensure compliance with ASME and company specifications.
  • Ensure that quality control inspection and reporting activities are conducted at suppliers as outlined in Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
  • Perform in-process inspections and validation of material, welding, heat treatment, NDE, hydrostatic shell testing, and dimensions.
  • Witness inspection activities as outlined in project ITPs and Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Accompany customer inspectors or third parties to inspection activities as outlined in project ITP’s.
  • Review and approve supplier data packages to ensure compliance to PO, ITP, quality, engineering and statutory requirements and provide an approval signoff for shipment.
  • Interface with suppliers and various company departments to develop strategies and quality plans and provide details related to project manufacturing and quality processes and expectations to meet company and project requirements, and assist with developing supplier procedures.
  • Review and evaluate complex non-conformances, candidly and openly discuss findings, and implement resolutions with the suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Company Engineering and Quality subject matter experts (SMEs) to obtain disposition and implement corrective actions related to non-conformances.
  • Promote, drive, and facilitate Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving processes and action related resolutions.
  • Assist with defining and developing selection criteria for supplier qualification, certification, evaluation ratings, and performance improvement.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

You have:

  • Proven expertise in and detailed knowledge of Non-destructive Examination (NDE) requirements necessary to select appropriate methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and are ASNT Level II certified in MT and PT
  • Certification as an AWS welding inspector (CWI) or possess the minimum requirements to test and receive certification
  • Expertise in filler metal control, heat treatment, and general welding processes
  • Firm understanding of all basic manufacturing processes
  • Excellent knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME Section II, V, VIII, and IX, B16.34, B31.3, and PED, ATEX
  • Expertise in metallurgy and fabrication of low chrome alloys
  • Demonstrated candid communication and conflict management skills in a variety of settings and at all levels with suppliers, customers, regulatory authorities, and management
  • Sound knowledge in root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and Lean, with ability to manage continuous improvement teams
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
  • Ability to travel 50%+ of the time to suppliers and customers

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering or other, relevant technical field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of weld engineering experience in a fabrication environment
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related quality and manufacturing experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with ISO 9001 a plus

Following Experience / Qualifications Strongly Desired

  • Certified six-sigma green belt
  • Experience with a wide range of NDE auditing
  • Experience with FaroArm or CMM
  • Experience in casting foundry environment and processes
