Software Engineer Practitioner

Job Description:

• Creates, maintains and updates UI automation tests for Web and Mobile products using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, Espresso, EarlGrey, XCUITest or similar tools Creates, maintains and updates automation tests for API products using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, Swagger or similar tools
• Integrates, maintains and updates CI/CD pipeline with automation tests
• Performs exploratory and manual testing on web, mobile and API products
• Records test results and creates summarized reports
• Works with product teams to discuss and define automation scope and design, analyze and identify automation test scenarios, and identify test data requirement for automation
• Develops automation test plans and test strategies, provides input where needed
• Defines product specific automation testing approach via growing and maintaining product knowledge
• Aligns testing efforts with an iterative development process
• Defines accessibility testing strategy and performs accessibility testing
• Collaborates with team members to refine the product backlog items
• Reports defects to team members and creates defects within a backlog management tool
• Participates in daily and weekly agile ceremonies
• Assists with building and grooming of a product backlog
• Works closely with the Product Manager to ensure the backlog is ready and actionable

 

Skills Required:

• Experience in developing UI automated tests using JavaScript, Typescript, Python and other related languages
• Continuous integration/continuous delivery tools and pipelines, such as Tekton, Jenkins
• Experience with web automation testing framework using Cypress, PlayWright
• Experience with API automation testing framework using Postman, SoapUI
• Experience with Web Accessibility testing

 

Skills Preferred:

• Previous experience working as an automation test engineer
• Practice in Lean/Lean Startup thinking and Agile Extreme Programming development methodology
• Ability to lead the automation testing efforts across multiple products
• Ability to write automated test across web, mobile or API products
• Ability to work with developers to analyze features and create testing approaches
• Ability to define accessibility testing strategy
• Certified in Web accessibility testing
• Understanding services-based architecture and web-based APIs running REST protocols
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for interacting with product team members and ability to teach others
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to manage large workload, while producing quality work in a fast-pace environment with interruptions and deadlines

 

Experience Required:

• 3+ years with progressive responsibilities in software automation testing

 

Experience Preferred:

• Independent learner who gets up to speed quickly on development technologies and is on the lookout for modern technologies in the industry
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when solving unexpected problems

 

Education Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering field
