 Change and Release Management
 
General Responsibilities

  • Process owner, responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and improving the process and procedures
  • Ensuring that appropriate process documentation is available and current
  • Periodically auditing the process to ensure compliance to policy and standards
  • Periodically reviewing the process strategy to ensure that it is still appropriate and change as required
  • Communicating process information or changes as appropriate to ensure awareness
  • Reviewing opportunities for process enhancements. Monitor and drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the process through various reports and metrics.
  • Addressing issues with the running of the process and providing input to the ongoing service improvement plan
  • Willing to work in shifts and weekends since this is a 24/7 Working environment
 
Specific Primary Responsibilities
 
1.Change and Release Management
  • Daily review of Changes and Release requests to ensure -
    • process adherence
    • no deviations from organization policies
    • no conflicting changes or releases (or ensure mitigation of such conflicts)
  • Coordinate with Build and Test Teams and participate in Release planning
  • Convenes weekly Global and AA region Change Meetings and monthly Global Release review Meetings
  • Responsible for Change and Release approvals
  • Review of Urgent Change requests, facilitate approvals of such requests
  • Responsible for
    • Change and Release reports required for the review meetings
    • Forward schedule of Changes and Releases reports for use by other IT functions like Tier-1, Tier-2 etc
    • Metrics publishing the Change and Release management health
    • Reports analyzing Changes that caused Incidents to take appropriate improvement actions
  • Monitoring of Closed Changes and Releases (verification of test plan implementation)
  • Responsible for conducting Post Implementation Review of appropriate Changes and Releases (Rolled back, Failed, those that caused incidents, Major Category ones)
  • Ensure Organization Audit control policies are adhered to in Change Management (particularly the Emergency Changes)
 
  1. Data Center Maintenance Activities
 
  • Responsible to coordinate the Data Center Maintenance Activities, accountable for Planning, Communicating, Executing, Closing and reporting activities of such maintenances.
 
Additional Responsibilities
 
1.Configuration Management
  • Ensure registration, updating and removal of CIs in the environment is done as per the documented Configuration Management procedures
  • Ensure regular housekeeping of the Configuration Management System (CMS)
  • Ensure CMS interfaces with Change Management, Problem Management and Release Management
  • Provides reports, including management reports (indicating suggested action to deal with current or foreseen shortcomings), impact analysis reports and configuration status reports
 
 
  1. Reporting and Metrics
    • Produce management metrics and reports covering all aspects of Incident, Problem, Change, Release , Configuration and Knowledgebase Management
    • Ensure development of reports based on business/service lines to provide better and specific visibility Business lines individually
    • Responsible for continual service improvement actions arising out of the metrics
 
 
Skills and Certifications Required
  1. ITIL V3 Service Transition Certified
  2. 5 years of total IT experience with at least 2 years into Process Management like Change and/or Release Management, Data Center Maintenance experience
