Job Description
This position is for an Network Engineer to provide network support, including data centers and large corporate LAN / WAN networks at multiple locations
Responsible for operational activities and project work, along with some design/optimization for a large corporate environment
Duties include the maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of a Cisco enterprise network switching environment, and WAN/MAN sites
Duties include release management, configuration management, incident management, change management, service level management, and security management of Cisco enterprise networks
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures associated with LAN and data center network support
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Performs a variety of network related tasks:
- Troubleshooting of more complex network related issues including resolution of outages/incidents as well as more advanced Service Request functions
- Network monitoring, Remote administration, configuration, trouble shooting, setup, deployment, IP Schema, IP Protocol, and any other applicable operational configuration parameters for all managed network devices.
- Coordination with other tower teams for issue resolution (if required)
- Ensuring successful implementation of changes needed for network performance optimization, new requirements etc.
- Effective communication and coordination of events during handling incidents for any major network outages.
- Experience in documentation of the Network Services e.g
Design criteria and standards, Topology documentation
- Proper documentation of incidents, service request, change requests as per standard process
- Proper handling the incidents escalated from NOC & other teams.
-Interacting with TAC centers for both equipment vendors and WAN service provider.
Job Requirements
Required Experience: 8-10 years experience providing network operations support in a mid to large sized organization.
Required Certification: CCNA / CCNP
Preferred Certifications: ITIL V3 Foundation, CCDP
Required Skills:
- OSI & TCP/IP Network protocol architecture, Layering benefits and concept, functions of different layers, switches and LAN WAN design, VLAN's
- Experience on installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco multilayer switches, Cisco routers.
Experience in Cisco WAAS Acceleration technologies
- Cisco Router & Switch experience with emphasis on IOS
- Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP,IPX etc).
- WAN transport technologies (Frame Relay, ATM, Private/Leased Line, MPLS, ISDN, PPP, HDLC) including encryption technologies (i.e
Riverbed)
- LAN technologies (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi)
- Experience in Quality of Service
Professional Skills
- Proven ability to manage own workload, priorities & deadlines and to work independently without direct supervision
- Proven ability to work with customers to define requirements, develop solutions and implement those solutions on time.
- Strong organizational skills
- Evidence of drive and the will to succeed.
