Atlassian System Administrator Job Description
Atlassian System Administrator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and support the Atlassian product suite including JIRA and Confluence as well as all related add-ons.
  • Design, document, and implement comprehensive JIRA workflows, issue types, custom fields, field configuration schemes, screen schemes, permissions schemes, and notification schemes.
  • Assist Atlassian Suite (JIRA/Confluence) users with all basic tasks.
  • Provide recommendations to end users and leaders on best practices and standardization in implementing and leveraging processes within the Atlassian Suite.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and advanced filters in JIRA/Report AIO/Confluence to provide end-users and business leadership with meaningful operational/performance metrics and status reports.
  • Develop forms and reports in Jira Service Manager (JSM)
  • Determine ways to optimize and improve Atlassian setup and process workflows and identify where functionality can or cannot meet user requests.
  • Research and provide recommendations on Atlassian products and plug-ins to support project objectives.
  • Document and communicate requirements, processes and change requests to ensure the delivery of solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Understand system architecture of upstream and downstream impacts when implementing new Atlassian solutions.
  • Create and maintain Confluence site structure to meet growing project needs.
  • Maintain healthy JIRA and Confluence project environments by periodically reviewing configurations, permissions, workflows, dashboards, integration and logs.
  • Create and maintain a governance plan for JIRA and Confluence.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical and user-facing documentation.

Atlassian System Administrator Skills and Experience
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience with the administration of the Atlassian suite including JIRA and Confluence; preference for the following Atlassian add-ons: Report AIO, Portfolio, Tempo Timesheets, ScriptRunner and TFS4JIRA.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in configuring custom dashboards, boards, and filters using JQL.
  • 1-2 years of experience in JSM development
  • Ability to create JIRA workflows including project workflows, security schemes, screen schemes, JIRA vocabulary, and permission and notification schemes.
  • Fluency in Confluence including security, spaces, design, integration with JIRA.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and experience leveraging the Atlassian Suite to maximize and improve those processes.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics, data integrity, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work, troubleshoots issues, and complete tasks on time.
  • Ability to work independently across functions and work with all levels of users and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing, dynamic environment, including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethic.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.
  • Atlassian Certification(s) for JIRA and/or Confluence or equivalent work experience.
