We're looking for an Engineer to help us automate the monitoring process of business critical applications at our Centralized IT Service Operations Centre (SOC). Someone who thrives on challenges and continually looks for opportunities to make things better. Comfortable in taking responsibilities. Should be friendly, positive and enthusiastic at every turn.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data on-boarding. Working with multiple data sources to import the data, parse/clean and index it as required. Configure file and directory inputs. Configure network inputs. Configure Windows inputs. Configure source types.
• Manage indexes, set retention policies, manage data archival and move to frozen state.
• Add/modify/remove alerts
• Create and manage dashboards
• Manage integrations to other event and service management tools
• Create/modify search jobs schedules
• Configuring data forwarding
• Splunk system administration tasks
• Management of Splunk Apps eg: SOS, Fire Brigade etc

• Splunk certified, preferably to Architect level, or working towards certification
• Data management skills. Able to define processes around data on-boarding, perform the on-boarding and bring into production
• Alert and dashboard management
• Splunk application management
• Ability to install and manage Splunk components: Indexers, Forwarders, Search Heads
• Experience with Splunk Clusters
• Troubleshoot technical issues to establish the root cause of problems and form a solution or workaround across a range of environments
• Reproduce issues and if necessary file bug reports, escalate cases to Vendor, and provide necessary documentation
• Knowledge of roles and data access management
• Good analytical and debugging skills

• Enthusiastic, energetic individual with relevant 4 years of Splunk experience.
• Proven data import experience.
• Working experience in alert handling, standard availability and performance report generation.
• Hands-on experience in root cause analysis of post-production performance related issues.
• Working knowledge of scripting languages like Python, PHP.
• Writing XML and creating manual dashboards.
• Worked with multiple database technologies ie: SQL, Oracle
• Worked on multiple applications in Splunk.
