Day to day responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains multiple database management systems in database design, testing implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment contributing to policy and procedure development.
- Maintains and monitors database utilities, the relationships between the database users and applications, uses query languages to design required summary or aggregation tables to support analyses.
- Backups/Restore, User Access Management (creating users, privileges, roles, quotas, table, indexes etc.), space management, monitoring (alert log, memory, disk I/O, CPU, database network connectivity)
- Reviewing functional requirements to resolve issues related to information flow and content.
- Defining database security policies and maintaining the standards across all the environments.
- Optimize database architecture schema and structures, to include files, tables, and table spaces and provide tuning and performance of the application database environment.
- Work closely with developers, provide DBA support for multiple applications in development, Test, QA, UAT and production environments. The individual will also be required to work on scripting tools like T-SQL and PowerShell at an application level.
- Perform proactive database system tuning services, ensuring a high-performance platform that will meet business needs.
- Keep up to date on industry trends and methodologies for and make recommendations on incorporation into the Company's database system infrastructure.
- Proactively identify symptoms and instabilities in a timely and accurate manner to include performing analysis, capacity planning, and testing for organizations environment
- Provide written documentation to support the recommendation and benefits of implementing new technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field required, however equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.
- Industry relevant certifications are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 8years of relevant experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database administration required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform in a dynamic, fast-changing work environment.
Technical Skills: -
- SQL installations, upgrade/Migrations, and configuration for SQL server 2008 to SQL Server 2019 and troubleshooting installation issues.
- Creation of the SQL logins and users, access provision as per the requirement.
- Configuration of database mirroring, Log shipping and troubleshooting issues.
- Configuration of Always on availability groups with multi subnet and troubleshooting AG issues and performing the failovers.
- Configuration of Transaction replication and troubleshooting for replication issues, knowledge, and hands on other replication topologies.
- Installation and configuration of SQL server clustering and troubleshooting the SQL cluster issues.
- SQL performance tuning and Query optimization, knowledge on backup tools like TDP and semantic net backup
- SQL patching such as applying service packs, security patches and Hotfixes.
- Must have the SQL Development knowledge to assist the developers for fine tuning and performance trouble shooting to ensure a high-performance platformthat will meet business needs
- The ability to perform the design and development of the new features of the SQL server as POC and recommending them to the existing infrastructure.
- Configuration and Migration of AWS/Azure cloud databasesfrom on premise databases and Maintenance support. Knowledge on MySQL Databases
- ITIL Process awareness with Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management
- Provide subject matter expert level knowledge to the team and customer as needed.
- Monthly Rotational India and UK hours and be available if needed to support 24/7 – 365 for emergency troubleshooting issues, critical project support, and application monitoring.
NOTE: This role will be based out of The Leela Office located on the 4th Floor, Airport Road, Kodihalli, Bangalore- 560008. Our expectation at this time, is that you would work from our office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays with flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
