This Job Matters as it provides leadership in the Cloud space driving adoption of our PaaS and IaaS platform. The role will provide technical expertise, delivering software solutions that provide business value and meet customer requirements, including necessary designs, documentation, automated testing, deployment and in-life support for the PaaS platform using Pivotal Cloud Foundry and IaaS platform using AWS. The role leads a team transforming and operating the PaaS platform helping teams onboard and adopt better ways of working and automate toil from the development process relating to infrastructure.  Any outage would have a major impact on BT's ability to service its customers. You will be lead by example for your team of Software Engineers, who will input into your authoritative technical recommendations for PaaS adoption, to commercial decisions on new and emerging areas, that balance deliverable commitments, unit strategic decisions on software engineering, and operational performance.

Technical Knowledge: Can give comprehensive & technical specialised advice on emerging new Cloud technologies. Good knowledge of Pivotal Cloud Foundry and AWS is a must. Provide guidance and counsel on complex and unfamiliar situations and leverages other experts to develop solutions.
People Leadership: Ability to inspire and drive performance of a strong engineering team across UK/India . Servant leadership, helping the team grow skills and contribute to BT and their careers.
Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
Stakeholder Management: Able to develop close relationships with senior customers/vendors/suppliers to facilitate negotiations and manage major escalations.
Hold others to account: Ability to demand high ethical standards and values led behaviours ensuring the same understanding in their team.  Able to call out misaligned or poor behaviour.
Be agile: Able to lead Leads collaborative and agile ways of working through projects and programmes effectively managing changing priorities.
Commercial & Risk Awareness: Experience in evaluation of the obvious and subtle commercial risks/issues/challenges especially in relation to a programme/project. Experience in determining the appropriate commercial solutions.
Software Development Concepts: Experience with the use of a wide range of programming concepts including (but not limited to): recursion, multi-threading, memory management, garbage collection. Aware of and has applied a range of algorithms, for example related to sorting and searching. Excellent understanding and experience of cloud native application design principles (like micro-services, stateless application meant for cloud, containers etc.)
Technology Skills PCF: Experience as an operator with Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Open Source Cloud Foundry (Taking care of upgrades, application onboarding, resolving application issues w.r.t. deployment on PCF foundation, bosh level troubleshooting, Backup and recovery) and for the tiles supported in PCF (e.g. MySQL, RabbitMQ, Redis)
AWS: Foundational knowledge of AWS platform product & services is a plus.
People Management: Experience in the full employee lifecycle in a Technical environment, including succession planning & performance management.
Change Management: Experience in transforming solution design & delivery to improve quality & cost and being able to identify and prove concepts for future technology.
