Roles
- Provide effective communications including written, oral and presentation
- Troubleshoot technology faults across a broad group of technologies quickly targeting faults
- Adapt to and learn new technologies quickly through self-study, peer and formal training
- Create and implement operational procedures
- Proactive/reactive monitoring using tools such as Netcool & Sev One
- Dedication to seeing work delivered accurately and within SLA timeframes
- Work closely with teammates to ensure procedures and escalation processes are followed & communication occurs
- Partner with other front line support teams as needed to validate issues and resolutions
- Engage with vendors such as Telco's, hardware and software providers
Responsibilities
- Respond to events presented by network management tools or reported incidents using documented procedures, personal experience and direction from senior staff or leadership
- Provide hands on support for a variety of technologies including but not limited to routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, WAN accelerators & wireless
- Create incident tickets taking ownership for tracking them through their lifecycle ensuring progression
- Must be able to convey technical information in a manner suitable for the audiences understanding or interests
- Participate in various bridge calls responding to requests and providing feedback on current state of the environment
- Use the tools provided to assist with diagnosis of incidents and to proactively assist others with diagnostics
- Open, track and follow up on cases with vendors pertaining to active incidents in the environment
- Perform routine maintenance activities and deploy scheduled changes based on documented procedures
- Create or modify documentation in response to new events and learning's
- Contribute to event threshold tuning efforts
- Requests and Incidents have timely updates based on SLA metrics
- Effectively participate in shift change functions including documentation and discussion
- Routinely provide constructive feedback for improvement opportunities
Education/Experience:
- Strong understanding of the Network OSI model and TCP/IP Protocol Suite
- CCNA, CCENT, CCNP and/or JNCIA certification or equivalent work experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP network routing and switching
- Strong knowledge of firewalls and load balancers
- Ability to quickly differentiate application from network problems
- Ability to perform basic TCP/IP Network traces/packet captures with experience interpreting results
- Previous network infrastructure field experience with one or more of the following products: Cisco, Juniper, and F5
- 3 years experience in a NOC analyst/engineer role, 7+ years total operational experience
- High level of confidence and competence communicating on bridges
